PHILIPPINE AMBASSADOR TO PORTUGAL AND THE PRESIDENTE DA CÂMARA MUNICIPAL DO PORTO PROPOSE EXCHANGE OF VISITS TO STUDY ECO-TOURISM STRATEGIES

Philippine Ambassador to Portugal, Paul Raymund P. Cortes, accompanied by Dra. Yasmin P. Cortes and cultural attaché Michelle Kathlene Reyes, paid a courtesy to the Presidente da Câmara Municipal do Porto, Mayor Rui Moreira, on 10 May 2024 at the Câmara Municipal do Porto. 

Ambassador Cortes and Mayor Moreira exchanged views on important issues affecting both the Philippines and Portugal, focusing on tourism, architectural restoration, and sustainable tourism policies. 

During the courtesy call, the Mayor of Porto recalled his previous visit to the Philippines. Ambassador Cortes took the opportunity to propose the possibility of organizing another visit to the Philippines aimed at facilitating discussions with local government units to exchange knowledge, experiences and best practices, particularly in the areas of tourism and architectural restoration. 

Ambassador Cortes underscored the importance of such exchanges between Philippine and Portuguese local governments in enhancing collaborations and promoting sustainable development.
