PHILIPPINE AMBASSADOR TO ANGOLA DISCUSSES ENHANCEMENT OF BILATERAL TRADE TIES WITH DTI OFFICIALS
18 March 2025, Manila – Philippine Non-Resident Ambassador to Angola Paul Raymund P. Cortes and Philippine Honorary Consul in Luanda, Ms. Megan Brechet-Amamou, called on the officials of the Bureau of International Trade Relations of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) to discuss the strengthening relations between the Philippines and Angola in trade and development.
Among the issues discussed were the identification of the proper Philippine Trade and Investment Center desk that oversees Angola, the overseas Filipino community, and the establishment of the Philippine-Angola Chamber of Commerce, including its planned activities for the year.
Ambassador Cortes gave an overview of Angola, particularly its economic profile, and shared his priorities in terms of contributing to the development of the country in line with the Philippines' broader approach in this area.
In response, DTI outlined its ongoing programs for export development, bilateral cooperation, and capacity-building initiatives. They also discussed ways in which the Philippines could offer expertise in building a professional business base in Angola.
Honorary Consul Amamou added that Angola’s potential lies in artisan and handicraft work and expressed hope that the Philippines can likewise share its expertise on the matter.
This meeting is part of the Philippines’ ongoing efforts to deepen economic ties with Angola and explore new areas of cooperation that benefit both countries. END
