CHAMBERS OF COMMERCE FORGE DEAL TO ENHANCE PHILIPPINES-PORTUGAL TRADE COOPERATION

28 March 2025, Lisbon The Philippine Embassy hosted the signing of the Memorandum of Cooperation between the Chamber of Commerce of the Philippine Islands (CCPI) and the Câmara de Comércio e Indústria Portugal-Filipinas (CCIPF) or the Philippines-Portugal Chamber of Commerce on 28 March 2025 at the Chancery in Lisbon.

The Memorandum of Cooperation was signed by Mr. Jose Luis U. Yulo, Jr. of CCPI and Mr. David Farca Cruz along with Mr. Orlando Godoy Sia of CCIPF. Under the Memorandum, both chambers commit to staying cognizant of the dynamic landscapes of the economy and trade, and to assisting each other in realizing their respective planned initiatives, among other objectives.

Philippine Ambassador Paul Raymund P. Cortes expressed optimism that the signing will serve as a solid foundation for deepening and enhancing trade relations between the Philippines and Portugal. He emphasized that despite the contrasts, “the two chambers will undoubtedly have much to learn from one another by engaging in the exchange of perspectives, ideas, and experiences.”

In his brief remarks, Mr. Yulo took pride in highlighting that the CCPI is the Philippines' oldest business institution and emphasized its commitment to “developing an economic compass that will guide our future, with a strong focus on rebuilding the economy.” He further noted that the Memorandum of Cooperation marks CCPI's inaugural connection with Portugal, expressing optimism about exploring new opportunities for manufacturing and investment.

The signing of the Memorandum of Cooperation between the two chambers marks a significant step in bilateral trade relations and lays the groundwork for greater economic collaboration, the sharing of expertise, and the opening of new avenues for business growth between the two nations. END
