03 March 2020, LISBON – Just in time for the celebration of International Women’s Month, the Philippine Embassy in Lisbon welcomed the newest addition to the Filipino Community in Portugal, Ms. Rovaira Dasig, who visited the Embassy for consular registration.

The Philippine Embassy’s Consular Registration program is an important service which overseas Filipinos should avail of as it provides access to a number of the Embassy’s services such as assistance in the event of an emergency, information on travel advisories, and consular services as well as the various activities organized by the Embassy including updates in overseas absentee voting and the like.

Philippine Ambassador to Portugal Celia Anna M. Feria welcomed Ms. Dasig and thanked her for taking the time to register at the Embassy. Ms. Dasig recently relocated to Lisbon in January 2020 to take up her job as a Senior Product Manager for an American software company based in Lisbon.

The Ambassador encouraged Ms. Dasig (whose office is around the corner from the Embassy) to participate in the Embassy’s several activities that highlight women empowerment especially in the tech field. She was informed that the Embassy has been working with a group of Filipinas in the tech industry to raise awareness of the opportunities that can be found in today’s digital economy. Ms. Dasig was also invited by the Ambassador to participate in the Embassy led activities where her expertise and knowledge in raising the profile of Filipinos in the tech industry can be pass on to other Filipinas and especially to the Filipino youth in Lisbon.

This year’s theme of the celebration of International Women’s month, “We make change work for women” focuses on the empowerment of women as active contributors in communities and claimholders of development.
